This weekend marked the end of the 7th annual L.A. Times Food Bowl, one of the biggest food festivals on the west coast. The festival ended with the yearly Night Market, a weekend-long event. Guests were invited to the Paramount Pictures Studios backlot to eat and drink a limitless amount of delicacies that make up the Los Angeles food scene and watch live showcases from their favorite celebrity chefs.
Fiesta Friday Events
Friday night’s “Fiesta Friday” celebrated the unique Latin American flavors that define Los Angeles cuisine. Guests were treated to multiple live demonstrations, including:
- Actor Danny Trejo conducted a live demonstration on behalf of his restaurant, Trejo’s Tacos.
- “Smoke & Soul BBQ with Pitmaster Kevin Bludso” gave the TV personality and award-winning chef the opportunity to showcase BBQ techniques from his latest book, Bludso’s BBQ Cookbook: A Family Affair in Smoke and Soul on the L.A. Times Food Stage.
- The Bear producers Matty Matheson and Courtney Storer hosted “Welcome to the Beef with Matty & Coco,” where they performed a live version of their YouTube series Welcome to the Beef inspired by the hit TV show.
- The “Burger Battle”, brought to you by New School Quality American and hosted by Mr.Beast Burger’s Eric Greenspan, showcased a burger competition among some of the best connoisseurs in the city. The competition was judged by chef and TV host Alvin Cailan.
Celebrity audience members include Megan Mullaly and Nick Offerman who were excited to taste what the night had to offer.
Saturday Night Flavor Events
Saturday night’s sold-out crowd was a bustling celebration of the myriad of dishes that can be found throughout the L.A. area.
Audiences were treated to:
- A live cooking demo by the renowned restaurateur Chef Thitid “Ton” Tassanakajoh.
- Food Network regular Jet Tila hosted “The Gold Standard for Authentic Thai Cuisine,” where he recreated some of his most aww-worthy authentic Thai recipes that viewers could make at home.
- Jenn Harris, host of the video series “The Bucket List: Dumplings!,” held a “Dumpling Showdown” where she explored the wide variety and cultural significance of dumplings.
Sunday Backlot Brunch Events
Sunday’s Night Market event welcomed families to a mid-day block party filled with barbecue delicacies and unique takes on brunch favorites. Notable demonstrations included:
- The “Duff Goldman Does Dessert” segment showcased the “Ace of Cakes” star’s baking skills as he and his team of chefs create specialty-made pastries.
- Saved by the Bell’s Tiffani Thiessen performed a live cooking demonstration and shared her new cookbook, Here We Go Again: Recipes and Inspiration to Level Up Your Leftovers.
