Joico is celebrating a momentous milestone this year: their 50th Anniversary! For half a century, they have been a leader in providing exceptional color and care solutions to their valued customers. To kick off this year of celebrations, naturally, Joico has partnered with some of the industry’s top pro’s to kick off the New Year. They’ve got the help of Renato Campora to create the immaculate looks from Selena Gomez, Michelle Yeoh, and Kate Winslet and Marcus Francis for Kate Hudson for the 82nd Golden Globes Awards.
Selena Gomez’s Golden Globes hair inspirations are Sofia Loren, Lauren Bacall, and Marilyn Monroe, icons of glamour, sophistication, and chicness. Renato Campora (@renatocampora) explains how she created Selena’s wispy curls, perfect for her face frame. “I prepped the hair with Defy Damage Protective Shampoo and Defy Damage Conditioner. Next I applied a small amount of Defy Damage KBond20 Power Masque and massaged it for 2 minutes. With clean and damp hair, I mix both Defy Damage Protective Shield and Dream Blowout Thermal Protection Crème on mids and ends. I sectioned 2-inch sections and apply JoiWhip Design Foam to roots for volume.
Next, I blow-dried with the Helios 1875 Black dryer and a 1.3’’ natural bristle round brush, lifting the hair upwards. I blew dry the back of the head the same way. The left front was dried upwards and back, while the side part was dried upwards and forward. With the hair shiny, voluminous, and healthy-looking, I sectioned 1-inch vertical parts, sprayed with Joico Heat Hero Glossing Thermal Protection, curled with a 1″ iron, and pinned. I repeated this for the back and front right side. For the left front, I used a 1″ curling iron for the bottom section and a 1.25″ iron for a softer top curl. Curl forward and pin. Pro Tip: Different iron sizes help the top lay smoothly over the tighter bottom waves. Next, I let the hair cool for 15 minutes. Once set, I removed the pins and brushed out each section with an oval dressing brush. Finally, I section a diagonal part and add two “Aria” hair extensions near the hairline, followed by two “Essenza” hair pieces for added density. I brushed through and blended them to sculpt the wave, shaping it around the face. The side part is brushed forward, while the other side is swept back to open the face and showcase the neck and jewelry. This balance is key to the look. Finally, I applied a pea-sized amount of Joico K-PAK Color Therapy Luster Lock Glossing Oil to the ends for added shine. And voila!
Renato also styled Michelle Yeoh’s hair, most known for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Renato explains that, “for Michelle Yeoh’s red carpet look, I used Joico Hair Care to create her ‘less is more’ hairstyle, a perfect balance with her gorgeous dress. I prepped the hair with Joico Moisture Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner, as moisture is essential for achieving infinite shine and healthy-looking hair. With clean hair, I applied Joico Power Whip to the roots for volume and Joico Dream Blowout to mids and ends to reduce blow-dry time and boost moisture. Using a round brush, the hair is blow-dried straight, then curled with a 1.25-inch barrel curling iron and pinned to cool. Her bangs are blown out and straightened for an effortless, joiful look. Once the hair cools, it is brushed back into a clean ponytail. The hair is styled into a beautiful chignon, perfectly shaped to her head. A few sprays of Joico Power Spray Fast-Drying Finishing Spray, and Michelle’s ready to go!”
Yet again, Renato did a wonderful job with Golden Globe Nominee Kate Winslet. With this style, Renato says “Taking inspiration from Kate Winslet’s effortless style, I crafted a low, undone bun that complemented the sleek silhouette of her suit. This style highlights the hair’s natural radiance while exuding modern elegance. I prepped the hair with Defy Damage Protective Shampoo and deep conditioned it with Joico Defy Damage KBOND20 Power Masque to strengthen, build bonds, and fortify color-treated strands. Once clean and nourished, the hair was ready for styling. I created a sharp middle part, then applied Joico Dream Blowout Thermal Protection Crème from mid-lengths to ends for protection and hydration. To enhance shine and manageability, I used Joico K-PAK Color Therapy Luster Lock Spray on the top section. Working in 2-inch sections, I round-brushed the hair smooth while blow-drying to create the perfect base. With a polished, sleek foundation in place, it was time to add waves—but not without protection!
Before curling, I sprayed Joico Heat Hero Glossing Thermal Protector on each 2-inch horizontal section. This must-have product protects hair from heat, enhances shine, and even reduces the appearance of split ends. Then, I used a 1.25-inch curling iron to add soft, textured waves throughout the hair. To lock in the look, I sprayed Joico Body Shake Texturizing Finisher all over. Not only does this product protect against humidity and pollution, but it also creates plush volume and airy, touchable texture. The result? Healthy, shiny hair with a joiful, carefree vibe that’s red-carpet ready!
Celebrity Hairstylist Marcus Francis (@marcusrfrancis) styled actress Kate Hudson, with the inspiration according to Marcus being “a hairstyle that felt regal yet cool and timeless. To keep all eyes on Kate, I went for a high twisted chignon softly framing her face with curtain bangs, subtly giving an homage to her mom, Goldie Hawn.” Also using Joico products for Kate’s updo, Marcus describes how “On damp hair I used Joico Defy Damage Protective Shield from roots to ends and combing it through. Making a cocktail of the Joico JoiWhip Mousse and Joico Dream Blowout, I applied that from the roots to the ends as well. I made a center part and sectioning out the section for her curtain bangs, I used a small round brush. I clipped aside with setting clips and blew dry the rest of the hair with a medium size round brush drying each section up for lift at the roots. I took out a very small section on each side to softly frame her face while pulling the rest of her hair up to a high ponytail, secured with a bungee elastic. I spray the ponytail section with Joico Body Shake Texturizing Finisher Spray to help twist and shape the chignon. Keeping the height , I twisted to form a figure 8 and secured with hair pins. I used the Joico Power Spray fast drying finishing spray to smooth the hair at the nape and any flyaways, and to set the perfect placement of the curtain bangs.
